<h3 class="md-block-header-three">Litlefjell - a short hike with a nice view</h3>This trip is perfect if you want a pit stop, with a view - short enough so you can bring the kids too.Just keep an eye on them, it&#x27;s a long way down..<figure class="md-block-image md-block-image-has-caption"><img src="https://cdn.bitbook.net/images/75181648660251.jpg" alt="View from Litlefjell towards Åndalsnes" /><figcaption class="md-block-image-caption">View from Litlefjell towards Åndalsnes</figcaption></figure>Its a short 0,8km hike, 20-30 minutes from the car, when you&#x27;re at the top you have a great view of Trollveggen on the opposite side (as seen in the photo below), Romsdalshorn, Romsdalseggen and Åndalsnes.It&#x27;s a popular hike for families, since even little kids can manage this short distance.<figure class="md-block-image"><img src="https://cdn.bitbook.net/images/62681648660895.jpg" alt="" /><figcaption class="md-block-image-caption"></figcaption></figure>In the photo below we went a little further up from the &quot;top&quot; and got an even better view. To the left you can see Romsdalseggen, its a popular hike going from the parking just before Litlefjell up and along the top of Romsdalseggen to Nesaksla on the other side. There you can also descend to <a class="md-inline-link" href="https://bitbook.net/stories/post/17-Rampestreken-is-a-short-(1,8km)-but-quite-hard-hike,-with-a-great-view?refId=55&amp;id=55" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Rampestreken</a> to enjoy another great view, or eat and drink at Eggen restaurant and bar (as seen in the link to Rampestreken). To go back down you can either walk back the way you came, go down to Rampestreken and down the trail from there or take the skylift from Eggen restaurant down to the docks.<figure class="md-block-image md-block-image-has-caption"><img src="https://cdn.bitbook.net/images/59251648660687.jpg" alt="Towards Åndalsnes and Romsdalseggen" /><figcaption class="md-block-image-caption">Towards Åndalsnes and Romsdalseggen</figcaption></figure>The view is great on both sides, in the photo below you can see the road where you can park and start going up to Litlefjell. In the opposite end of the small lake is the parking and starting point of Romsdalseggen hike mentioned above.There are so many hikes in and around Åndalsnes, that you can keep coming back year after year and not have to go the same one twice. <figure class="md-block-image md-block-image-has-caption"><img src="https://cdn.bitbook.net/images/11701648661021.jpg" alt="A view of the valley you drive in to get to Litlefjell" /><figcaption class="md-block-image-caption">A view of the valley you drive in to get to Litlefjell</figcaption></figure>Other things worth checking out in the region are <a class="md-inline-link" href="https://bitbook.net/stories/post/17-Rampestreken-is-a-short-(1,8km)-but-quite-hard-hike,-with-a-great-view?refId=55&amp;id=55" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Rampestreken</a>, <a class="md-inline-link" href="https://bitbook.net/stories/post/14-Trollstigen?refId=55&amp;id=55" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Trollstigen</a>, <a class="md-inline-link" href="https://bitbook.net/stories/post/13-Geirangerfjord---Norway?refId=55&amp;id=55" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Geiranger</a>, <a class="md-inline-link" href="https://bitbook.net/stories/post/6-Loen-skylift?refId=55&amp;id=55" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Loen skylift</a>If you want a harder hike, check out Stabbeskaret, where you go to the top of Trollveggen, the famous 1431m high vertical wall. It&#x27;s a challenging hike, and a guide is recommended, along with enough water, food and good hiking gear. I went there a couple years back, i&#x27;ll make a story about it another day.

Litlefjell - short, but rewarding hike

<h3 class="md-block-header-three">Hike - Rampestreken</h3>This popular hike starts from the town of Åndalsnes and goes to 537 MASL, with an fantastic view waiting at the end - you can even go further up to Nesaksla at 708 MASL and take the skylift back down - or continue further on the Romsdalseggen trail.<figure class="md-block-image md-block-image-has-caption"><img src="https://cdn.bitbook.net/images/2631648402533.jpg" alt="The view from Rampestreken in towards Trollstigen and Trollveggen (behind my head)" /><figcaption class="md-block-image-caption">The view from Rampestreken in towards Trollstigen and Trollveggen (behind my head)</figcaption></figure>If you have Åndalsnes as your base camp (<a class="md-inline-link" href="https://secure.rezserver.com/hotels/results/?query=%26amp%3BAring%3Bndalsnes&amp;rooms=1&amp;adults=2&amp;city_id=800041585&amp;refid=10148" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">check out some of the hotels here</a>) you&#x27;re most likely in walking distance of the starting point for this hike. A small warning, it might be just 1.8km, but it goes up all the way - bring enough water.You can find the starting point at google maps (<a class="md-inline-link" href="https://goo.gl/maps/rSjvzGCKDGoP5e4C9" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">here</a>), there is a parking right next to it, but its expensive. You can park for free in the streets around <a class="md-inline-link" href="https://secure.rezserver.com/hotels/hotel/?hotel_id=700147342&amp;rdd=1648400204t274_800041585USD0k0h&amp;refid=10148" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Åndalsnes Grand Hotel</a> or Rauma kulturhus, both are just a few minutes from the starting point. Rampestreken is a short (1,8km) but quite hard hike, with a great view

It&#x27;s a challenging hike and not for the unexperienced ones. Trollstigen

<h3 class="md-block-header-three">Geirangerfjord - Norway</h3>This is one of most visited locations in Norway, cruise ships by sea, campers and drivers by land. Even for us Norwegian this is a popular destination during the summer.<figure class="md-block-image md-block-image-has-caption"><img src="https://cdn.bitbook.net/images/68781647725557.jpg" alt="View out towards the ocean, cruise ships navigate these deep fjords on their way to Geiranger town" /><figcaption class="md-block-image-caption">View out towards the ocean, cruise ships navigate these deep fjords on their way to Geiranger town</figcaption></figure>All the way back to the 1869, when the first tourist ship sailed into Geiranger this has been an ever increasing popular destination for people from all over the world. The first hotel was build in the late 1880&#x27;s and the small settlement went from being almost cut off from the surrounding towns to becoming a popular destination for norwegians and others. And when you see it, you quickly understand why.<figure class="md-block-image md-block-image-has-caption"><img src="https://cdn.bitbook.net/images/47771647726053.jpg" alt="View from the viewing deck located in one of the hairpin turns called Ørnesvingen" /><figcaption class="md-block-image-caption">View from the viewing deck located in one of the hairpin turns called Ørnesvingen</figcaption></figure>There are several other fantastic locations &quot;near-by&quot; so if you want to spend the night you can checkout the <a class="md-inline-link" href="http://%20https//bitbook.net/?refId=55" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">nearby hotels</a>, in the middle of Geiranger town you can stay at Hotel Union Geiranger Bad &amp; Spa - as seen in the foreground in the photo below.<figure class="md-block-image md-block-image-has-caption"><img src="https://cdn.bitbook.net/images/8721647726290.jpg" alt="View of Geiranger town from the opposite side from Ørnesvingen - seen as the zig-zag road on the far right" /><figcaption class="md-block-image-caption">View of Geiranger town from the opposite side from Ørnesvingen - seen as the zig-zag road on the far right</figcaption></figure>Other locations worth checking out is Flydalsjuvet viewpoint - that&#x27;s where the above photo is taken. There is also Dalsnibba - a 1500masl viewpoint accessible by car a short drive from Geiranger.If you don&#x27;t mind a ferry ride, or a 2,5 hour drive you should check out <a class="md-inline-link" href="https://bitbook.net/stories/post/6-Loen-skylift?refId=55&amp;id=55" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Loen skylift</a>, one of the steepest in the world - though you might use more than 2,5 hours because there are alot of places worth stopping for on the way from Geiranger. Geirangerfjord - Norway

Loen skylift - NorwayAre you planning a trip to Norway, make sure to put this on your wish list! Loen skylift is one of the steepest in the world and takes you from 0- to 1011masl in a few minutes, and the view from the top is breathtaking! <figure class="md-block-image md-block-image-has-caption"><img src="https://cdn.bitbook.net/images/95551647644446.jpg" alt="View from the terrace above the restaurant on top of Loen skylift" /><figcaption class="md-block-image-caption">View from the terrace above the restaurant on top of Loen skylift</figcaption></figure>This hidden gem is located in Loen, close to Jostedalsbreen National Park. Surrounded by fjords and mountains everywhere you turn, this view is a short skylift ride away, at least if you&#x27;re not afraid of heights!Once you reach the top there is a viewing deck, restaurant and souvenir shop - it&#x27;s also possible to hike further into the mountains from here, if there&#x27;s enough snow it&#x27;s also possible to go skiing or sledging. <figure class="md-block-image md-block-image-has-caption"><img src="https://cdn.bitbook.net/images/56211647645592.jpg" alt="A view out from Loen towards Geiranger" /><figcaption class="md-block-image-caption">A view out from Loen towards Geiranger</figcaption></figure>There is also a ferry service between Loen and <a class="md-inline-link" href="https://bitbook.net/stories/post/13-Geirangerfjord---Norway?refId=55&amp;id=55" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Geiranger</a>, making this fantastic view even easier to experience, and you get the added bonus of an fantastic boat ride in the fjords.By car it&#x27;s around 2,5 hours from Geiranger to Loen, but there&#x27;s so much else to see on the way that you might wanna add a night at one of the nearby <a class="md-inline-link" href="http://%20https//bitbook.net/?refId=55" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">hotels in Stryn</a> - I enjoyed Hjelle Hotel - opened in 1886 this family run hotel has an amazing history with several royalties visiting back between 1897 and 1955. <figure class="md-block-image md-block-image-has-caption"><img src="https://cdn.bitbook.net/images/61071647645948.jpg" alt="Aerial view of Loen skylift" /><figcaption class="md-block-image-caption">Aerial view of Loen skylift</figcaption></figure>If you enjoy airsports, there is designated spots for hangliding, paragliding, base jumpers and wingsuit pilots.
