Located in the Lake Region of the estate of Rio de Janeiro, this city is known as the surfing capital, for its waves up to 3 meters high. So, of course, one of the main attractions is surfing!

But, on its beaches with wide stretches of white sand and great kiosks, it is also possible to sunbathe, have a cold beer, eat snacks, play volleyball or just relax!

The title of national capital of surfing is perfect for Saquarema - at Itaúna beach the waves reach three meters high and guarantee the scenario to host stages of world championships of the sport since the 70's.

The national surfing mecca is also the land of volleyball and rock'n'roll. The Volleyball Development Center is located in Saquarema, coordinated by the CBV and open to visitors to the facilities and the Volleyball Museum, full of trophies and medals.

At the Templo do Rock, which is hosted by the oldest rocker in the country - Serguei -, it is possible to check out photos and personal objects of the artist, in addition to listening to him tell hilarious stories about the Woodstock Festival and his friendship with singer Janes. Joplin.

A good option for those who don't know what to do in Saquarema at night is to stroll through Centrinho and Praça da Vila.

The square, which is right in the center of the city (affectionately called Centrinho by the locals), is a relaxing and pleasant space. Great for families with children or for those who like to enjoy the night in a quieter way.

Amidst the bars and restaurants, there are souvenir shops, children's playground and handicraft fairs on weekends.

Our tip for those looking for what to do at night in Saquarema is Casa da Praia, a restaurant with a beach club vibe, very high spirits and trendy!

They have one of the best spots to watch the sunset and during surf competition season, one of the most privileged views.

During the night, tourists also enjoy the environment that calls itself a gastronomic center, for offering clothing stores, tattoo studio, kids space, bars and restaurants. Definitely a great place to feel the city's beach vibe!

For those looking for calm waters, the beautiful waterfalls are another option. And, during the day, you can still visit viewpoints and museums. While at night, there are several lively bars for those who want to have fun!

Saquarema is located at a distance of 110km from the city of Rio de Janeiro, and is only a few kilometers from other tourist cities in the state, such as Cabo Frio, Arraial do Cabo and Búzios, which makes it possible to visit even other cities during the trip to Saquarema. Summer is when the city gets busiest, especially during Carnaval, when the streets and beaches are usually crowded, making it difficult to get around by car.

To really enjoy Saquarema with tranquility and without turmoil, we recommend visiting the destination between the end of February and the beginning of December. And give preference to the month of November, when the weather is already favorable to enjoy the region and still escape the high season.

Have Fun!
