Israel goes far beyond religious sights. There, you will see millenary cities, a gastronomy rich in spices, street markets, walk through deserts, float in the dead sea and much more.
Jaffa or Yaffo is one of the oldest cities in the world, dating back 5,000 years. Located a few kilometers from the center of Tel Aviv, the contrasts are visible: on one side, an old city, with narrow streets and limestone walls. On the other, the modern and cool Tel Aviv, with 100 years of existence.
Getting lost in the alleys of Jaffa is incredible: you will find several ateliers of local designers, painters, draftsmen, artisans and much more.
In Jaffa you will also find the bridge of the signs – several iron plaques along the bridge, each with a different sign symbol. Tradition says you should put your hand on yours and make a wish looking at the horizon.
How to get to Jaffa
Tel Aviv is known as the gateway to Israel as the airport there receives flights from all over the world. From the airport you will have a few transport options to Jaffa:
Local buses and trains: go to the city center and from there you can walk to Jaffa, as it is very close;
Sherut, shared taxi that takes passengers from the airport to other neighborhoods cheaper than regular taxis;
Renting a Car: at the airport itself. This is the best option because you can already leave Brazil with your reserved car, and in addition, you will have more autonomy during your trip.
Where to stay in Jaffa
With the modernization of Old Jaffa for the reception of tourists, the region is increasingly receiving new establishments. Among them, restaurants, bars, shops and hotels.
The Margosa Hotel is one of the best options, being super comfortable and well located. Another option in the comfort line is the Market House – An Atlas Boutique Hotel, a highly rated boutique hotel. For the budget ones, the Old Jaffa Hostel. It is one of the best hostel options in the region.
Tel Aviv's beachy vibe is perfect for outdoor exercise, strolling along the waterfront and biking. We took a day to do a bike tour around the city, and the place I liked the most was the waterfront: that incredible sea and the view of Jaffa in the background were unforgettable.
It is very easy to rent a bike there, as you just have to go to one of the totems available on the streets to rent a bike, swipe your international card and release the bike. It costs 5 dollars all day! The city is “bike friendly“, that is, you will be able to discover several corners of Tel Aviv without any problem!

The city's waterfront lies between Jaffa and Tel Aviv Port. From the airport you can rent a car to drive around the city with autonomy and practicality. As in any beach town, the most luxurious hotels are located on Tel Aviv's waterfront. Beachfront Hostel and Royal Beach Hotel by Isrotel are some of the best rated options by tourists.
Tel Aviv is known for its joviality and animation. The bars, restaurants and nightclubs are open until late, and there are many options.
Several options of bars, pubs and nightclubs are spread across the city. But the region with the highest concentration of nightlife is between Rothschild Boulevard and the Harakevet district. The most popular and different places are in this region. The best thing to do is hire a company that offers a night tour, as we did. They will pick you up and drop you off at your hotel.

The best located hotels for this region are The Rothschild Hotel and The Rothschild 71. In addition to being comfortable, they are close to both the center of Tel Aviv and the area's beaches.
The Baha'i Gardens, located in Haifa, Israel, are so amazing, different and perfect that they are good for the eyes. Do you know when you are faced with a beautiful landscape and you just want to stay there looking, analyzing every detail?
Baha'i is a monotheistic religion created in 1844 in Iran, nowadays with 6 million adherents around the world. They believe that all religions came from the same source and have the same essence. Another curious fact is that they express their vision of perfection through the gardens, also showing the harmony between human beings and nature.
All of its temples are built with beautiful and huge gardens, but the great difference of Haifa's garden is that it is inclined “downhill” and the view from the top, contrasting with the city and the sea, is unforgettable.
If you would like to join a guided tour of the Garden, you can visit www.ganbahai.org.il/eng to see the schedule. The visit can only be made together with someone of the religion. Some days it doesn't work because of holidays.
Remember: go with your shoulders and knees covered, as a form of respect for religion.
How to get to the Baha'i Garden
The Baha'i Garden is located in Haifa, the third largest city in Israel, just 90 km from Tel Aviv. To get to Haifa, you can:
