There are idyllic and delightful villages where you can go by a fast train ride from Paris, the capital of France. Bougival

Bougival village, one of the western suburbs of Paris, has quaint streets with beautiful views. It is a riverside village and although it is a small place, it hosts many arts events.

Auvers-Sur-Oise

Located in the north of Paris, this village is a frequent destination for many painting artists. Vincent can Gogh also spent the last months of his life here and used its buildings and inhabitants in more than 70 paintings. You can visit the l'Auberge Ravoux inn where Van Gogh stayed and see the studios and works of other painters. In the town's cemetery is the cemetery of Van Gogh. This village is usually lively from May to October.

Chateau-Landon

Château-Landon, one of the important towns of the Middle Ages, had a powerful trade route. Former Kings of France had resided in this town and it is also an important religious centre. It has a beautiful monastery and many medieval buildings.

You can see ancient mills and other wonderful sights by walking along the Fusain River.

Moret-sur-Loing

Located on the banks of the Loing River and surrounding the forest of Fontainebleau, this village features half-timbered buildings, charming churches, medieval gateways and mills. The village has great hiking and biking trails. You can enjoy the river by canoeing through the overhanging branches of willow branches.

Provins

Nestled in a lush valley east of Paris, Provins is one of France's most wonderful medieval villages. Historically, this village was a former feudal lordship of the Counts of Champagne. In the Middle Ages, the important trade routes and trade fairs of Europe passed through Provins. Rich thanks to its trading location, the city boasts Gothic churches, sturdy city walls, large trading houses and the Tour Cesar castle. The village of Provins was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2001. Every year between June and December, medieval themed fairs are held here and the old trade tradition is continued.

Paris can be a relatively cold city during the spring months. However, the sunny weather and the very crowded summer months make Paris a good spring city.
