These lakes give travelers the opportunity to take a boat ride among the red rock canyons, fishing or scuba dive to see the depths.

While the state of Arizona is famous for its rugged mountains, saguaro cacti, and large landscapes, there are actually many large and beautiful lakes in the state.

Fool Hollow Lake

Fool Hollow Lake is located at the foot of Show Low. Named after Thomas Jefferson Adair, who moved here in 1885, this public lake is stocked with pike, smallmouth bass, sea bream, walleye, and trout. Local fishermen fish in this lake. Boaters with engines of maximum 10 horsepower are accepted to the lake, around which RV sites and tents are set up.

Bartlett Lake

About 77 km from Phoenix, this lake takes its name from the expert Bill Bartlett. A frequent destination for canoeing, boating, water skiing, and other water sports, Bartlett Lake is one of Arizona's best-protected natural locations. Fishermen can catch smallmouth bass and sea bream in this lake. The lake has a small marina, from which small watercraft and boats can be rented.

Patagonia Lake

Patagonia Lake State Park is located 15 miles north of the Arizona-Mexico border. A favorite spot for campers across the state, this park features 105 lakeside campgrounds for tent camping and RV-only. There are also seven rental cabins and 12 boat campsites. You can catch fish by boat, as well as hummingbirds, Inca pigeons, and canyon towhees. After watching the wildlife scenes and doing water sports, you can visit the wineries by going to Sonoita, which is only 30 minutes away.

Lynx Lake

Lynx Lake, 105 minutes from Phoenix and 15 minutes from Prescott, is surrounded by pine trees in the Bradshaw Mountains. Lakeshore Trail can be hiked for 2 miles with views of the lake. Fishermen can catch red mullet, rainbow trout, sea bream, bass and catfish in this lake. Canoes and small motor boats can be used. Just north of the lake is Lynx Creek.

Watson Lake

The rare granite boulders that surround Lake Watson make it one of the most scenic spots in the state. Located 6 miles from Precott, this lake is particularly popular with stand-up paddle boarders and kayakers. Fish can also be caught in the lake. There are mountain biking and hiking trails around the lake, as well as an 18-hole golf course. Near the lake is Goldwater Lake and offers similar recreational opportunities.
