Rio de Janeiro

Niteroi - Rio de Janeiro

undefined

Niterói is part of the Metropolitan Region of Rio de Janeiro and its main accesses are the Rio-Niterói Bridge and the ferry lines that you can access through the center of the city of Rio to Niterói. Niterói is one of the main financial, commercial and industrial centers, being one of the best Brazilian cities for business

And besides all that, the tourist structure of the city is still excellent, attracting many tourists for its architecture and culture. And thinking about it, we made this post to help you organize your trip or tour around the city of Niterói. There are many wonderful places to see.

For those planning a trip to Rio, why not include this itinerary in your days in the Marvelous City? It is ideal for 2 days in Niterói. If you're from Rio de Janeiro, how far is it from, huh? It's only 13 km away. Just take the ferry, enjoy the view along the way and in 30 minutes you've arrived in the land of Arariboia.

Niterói has beautiful beaches, strong stories from the time of Colonial Brazil and several ecotourism options to do, such as trails, abseiling and much more. Here we selected the 10 most amazing tours around the city. So already grab paper and pen to write down all the attractions and put together your itinerary to visit Niterói.

Itacoatiara beach

Located in the Oceanic Region, it is the most beautiful beach in the city. The restinga preserved in all its extension, the crystalline water (and very cold!) and rocky formation make up a paradisiacal scenario.

Its high waves attract surfers from different places. It is not uncommon to come across a surfing championship on the beach. Be sure to try the traditional iced mate (with chorinho!) + natural sandwich. A delight!

The cool thing about Itacoatiara is that in addition to being beautiful, it remains much quieter than any other beach in Rio, even on the hottest days of summer. Not to mention the contact with nature, the vibe of the place and the food and drink options, both on the sand and at the kiosks.

And whoever goes to Itacoatiara, you can't miss going up the Costão. With 2km in length, the trail is easy, but a little tiring. It takes, on average, 30 minutes to go up and another 30 to come back. As some stretches are quite steep, it's good to go with your own hiking shoes (no flip flops!) and take plenty of water and sunscreen. But the effort pays off. From the top, you have an incredible view of the main beaches and peaks of the oceanic region of Niterói.

A really cool tip for the Costão Trail is to plan to arrive at a good time to admire the sunset, the sea on the beach tends to turn orange at that time, which is an incredible sight to enjoy and even take some nice pictures beautiful.

Municipal Theater of Niteroi

The history of Teatro Municipal de Niterói begins in 1827 when, in the place where it is installed, there was a small show house. Over the years, the theater has developed and built its reputation.

Restored in 1994, the Theater reopened its doors in 1995. The stage at the Municipal de Niterói received great artists from the Theater, Dance and Brazilian Music, such as Luiz Melodia, Gilberto Gil, Niteroi artists Cauby Peixoto and Zélia Duncan, as well as Nelson Sargento and Tim Maia, who made his last presentation to the public there.

Attached to the theater is Sala Carlos Couto, a multimedia space that hosts exhibitions and small events. And also the Salão Nobre, occupied with small presentations.

Museum of Contemporary Art of Niterói – MAC

Inaugurated in 1996, the Museum of Contemporary Art is the symbol of Niterói. Designed by architect Oscar Niemeyer, the museum took shape during a visit by the artist, who visualized it right there, in circular shapes, gaining space.

Beloved by locals and tourists alike, MAC is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10 am to 6 pm. Every day, the courtyard is open from 8 am to 6 pm. In addition, the Bistrô is open from Tuesday to Friday, from 10 am to 5 pm and on weekends from 9 am to 6 pm.
