For those who enjoy trips that offer close contact with nature, through several options of trails and waterfalls, Goiás has become one of the preferred Brazilian states for this type of trip. In this post, we are going to talk about a destination in particular: Pirenópolis, which conquered our hearts because it was so incredible.
The center of Pirenópolis was listed as historical heritage and has several mansions from the 18th century, old Catholic churches, theater and museums. But it is the city's natural attractions that attract the most attention from visitors. Pirenópolis has the largest number of Conservation Units in the State of Goiás and more than 80 waterfalls.

Waterfalls are one of the main reasons why it is known, there are more than 80 waterfalls in the region. Among them are Cachoeira do Abade and Cachoeira do Rosário, which I had the opportunity to visit recently, in addition to Cachoeira do Dragão and Cachoeira da Gruta. These last two were tips I received from dear followers from Goiás!

Pirenópolis is a municipality in Góias that is 130km from Goiânia and 160km from Brasília. As it is located in the interior of Goiás, the best option to get there is by plane + car. You can choose between flying to Brasília or Goiânia and arriving at the airport renting a car and leaving for Pirenópolis.
A good tip for you to compose your trip itinerary is to integrate other cities in the surroundings, such as Corumbá de Goiás, Cidade de Goiás, São Francisco de Goiás, among others.
My suggestion is the Caminho de Cora Coralina, a new tourist route that passes through 8 cities in the interior of Goiás, in addition to small towns, historic churches, waterfalls and parks.
The Pirineus State Park is the watershed of two of the most important river basins on the continent, Platina and Tocantinense. In addition to Pico dos Pirineus, other interesting walks within the park are Morro do Cabeludo and Poços do Sonrisal.
The trail to Pico dos Pirineus is light and takes no more than 15 minutes. The view is 360 degrees and you can see the great sea of mountains around. At the peak, there is a small chapel built in the 1930s. The place is very important for the region's population, not only for its visual appearance, but also for religious reasons.
Abbot Waterfall
Like most waterfalls in the region, it is necessary to pay an entrance fee of R$40 to spend the day. The value is super fair, considering the whole structure and the various attractions of the complex. There's a restaurant that I've heard good recommendations for, as well as hammocks to stretch out after lunch.
Tip: Avoid weekends, as they can receive 800 people a day. Imagine the turmoil! Also, it is best to visit it after noon, so the sun will be shining on the well, which will make the water clearer and more crystalline.
Rosario Waterfall
The best food in the region! Lunch, made on the wood stove, is simply divine! There was a huge variety of typical dishes, including rice with pequi, gariroba, a kind of regional heart of palm, delicious chicken with turmeric (called saffron in the region), among others.
After eating very well, there's nothing like a cachaça and a hammock to stretch your legs. In fact, there is a hammock on the mezzanine and many other hammocks scattered around the garden, that is, a basket is essential.
The 40-meter waterfall and its emerald green tone are breathtaking. The bath is perfect for renewing energy. Oh! And access is via an irregular staircase in a walk of about 10 minutes.
Pirenópolis Horse Riding
The Cavalhadas are quite traditional in Pirenópolis and are known worldwide, such is the party and the involvement of its people during the festivities.
This dramatic representation, introduced by the Jesuits, narrates the onslaught of Charlemagne, of the Christian religion, against the Saracens, of the Islamic religion, to prevent them from invading the center of Europe. There are three days of festivities, as if it were a theater divided into three acts, one on each day. But the preparations begin a fortnight before, at the beginning of the Festa do Divino, which is marked by the departure of Folia.
