The best option is always to do the trail in dry weather, avoiding days when it is raining or after days that have rained, as several trails are very full of mud, which can make the adventure dangerous.
Regarding the time of year, summer is always a great option, the days are usually sunny and the heat is very inviting for that swim in the sea, especially on the trails that end at a beach. In this case, choose to start the trail early in the morning, to avoid doing it in very strong sunlight.
The autumn and spring seasons can be quite interesting as well, as the weather is milder, but still guarantees that nice warmth for an outdoor activity.
In winter, the weather is usually dry in the capital of Santa Catarina, which helps those who want to explore the longer routes. So if you are considering coming to the city in the coldest season of the year, know that you will have outdoor options to enjoy.
However, for those who want to take advantage of the trail + beach combo, it may not be the most interesting option, since the temperature tends to drop a lot in the city and a dip in the sea will not be as inviting or attractive.
As you'll see, even if hiking isn't your thing, Florianopolis has options for everyone, so it's a great place to get started in this practice. Some points, however, deserve emphasis.
It is always important to wear appropriate clothing and footwear. Some trails have denser vegetation, so even in summer the use of long pants or socks is recommended to prevent your legs from getting hurt.
Likewise, you should pay attention to the choice of shoes. The best option is always closed shoes, be it sneakers for simpler trails or hiking boots for more demanding trails. Take the opportunity to check out our post on how to choose the ideal trekking boot.
Don't forget sunscreen, repellent and a cap or hat. It is also essential to bring water, around 1.5L per person, but if the idea is a longer trail and there is no place to replace it, we advise you to take more.
A snack is always interesting to satisfy that hunger on the way, especially on trails that don't have much structure. Opt for lighter foods, such as fruits, sandwiches and cereal bars, to ensure energy and well-being, and it's always good to remember, when you leave, take all the garbage produced by you with you. In addition, in addition to beautiful photos and good memories, you still take home a unique experience.

Trail to the natural pools of Barra da Lagoa
Starting after the bridge over the Barra da Lagoa canal, this is a fairly simple trail, with no major slopes. Its great advantage is that it has several exits to small beaches.
Although the journey has incredible views, the icing on the cake is at the final destination: the natural pools of Barra da Lagoa. In reality, they are a rocky shore, which ends up forming a cove with a calmer sea and a stunning blue.
On site, there is no stretch of sand or shade available or a place to put an umbrella. Our suggestion is to arrive early, to be able to park close to the starting point of the trail, get a good spot on the rocks and enjoy the pools, which will still be empty.
Don't miss the opportunity to visit this beautiful place, don't know how to go? Don't worry, go to bitbook.net and easily book all you'll need to get there and have a great time.
Trail of Shipwrecked
This trail takes you to the southernmost beach in Florianópolis, Praia de Naufragados. It is a simple trail, which starts at the end of the Caieira da Barra do Sul bus line and is approximately 2.5 km long.
The whole journey lasts around an hour, with a small climb at the beginning, but which does not cause great difficulties. The destination beach is located in an environmental preservation area, in the middle of the Atlantic Forest. However, it has some seafood restaurants for a post-hike lunch.
Galheta trail
As we already mentioned in our post about the beaches to visit in Florianópolis, Praia da Galheta is the naturist stronghold in Florianópolis and is only accessible by trail, departing from Barra da Lagoa or Praia Mole.
For those starting in Barra, the beginning of the trail is the same that gives access to the natural pools, but instead of going left, turn right, towards the top of the hill.
From the top, you have a privileged view of Barra da Lagoa, Lagoa da Conceição, Praia do Moçambique and the Rio Vermelho Reserve. In all, it takes approximately two hours to walk to the beach, which has no structure, so take everything you need.
