Brazil
A deserted beach, a blue sea, an extensive strip of sand and unparalleled tranquility! This is Serra Grande (Bahia), a little-known paradise between Ilhéus and Itacaré. aAs it is far from the most popular beaches in the region, it is empty even in high season. That is, she is perfect for those who seek peace and isolation.
If you want to Disconnect from the world, this is your type of trip. Remember that it is not a destination for those looking for luxury, but it is certainly for those looking for one of the best destinations in Brazil. Serra Grande has a typical tropical climate: plenty of sunshine and significant rainfall throughout the year. That is, the chance of you getting a few days of rain during your trip is great. And even the driest month (August) will still have a lot of rainfall.
The average temperature is always pleasant and hovers around 23 to 25°C. Meanwhile, the average number of rainy days throughout the year is 15 per month. But don't worry, most days it's a light drizzle.
And if you think on the bright side, chances are you'll find rainbows! During the 5 days of my trip I witnessed this spectacle of nature every day. That's because it often rained out at sea and you could see the rain dancing back and forth on the horizon.

With an extensive stretch of white sand and calm waters, Praia Pé de Serra is great for late afternoon walks and refreshing dips. The climate is very family and the word quiet defines it very well!
With a very self-explanatory name, it is literally at the foot of Serra Grande. If you look back, you will only see the Atlantic forest and a few houses and inns.
Once on the Cocoa Coast, it is impossible not to visit at least one farm in the region to learn about the process of extracting cocoa and transforming it into chocolate. And to boot, there's still a delicious tasting of cocoa honey and the most varied % of cocoa in chocolate.
Be sure to separate a day from your itinerary to visit the quartet of beaches Engenhoca, Havaizinho, Camboinha and Itacarezinho. To get to the trail, you must park your car on the side of the road (km 12 of the BA-001 road towards Ilhéus-Itacaré) and walk for about 20 minutes.
The first two stops are very frequented by surfers from the region and tourists who are looking to learn the sport. Both also have a simple but efficient kiosk structure that sells food and drinks.
The first beach on the trail is Engenhoca and my top tip is to cross it to the left corner and climb the rocks. There you will find several natural pools that form at low tide.
Don't miss the opportunity to visit this beautiful place, don't know how to go? Don't worry, go to bitbook.net and easily book all you'll need to get there and have a great time.
Continuing on to Havaizinho, the 15-minute walk through the woods also has some windows overlooking the sea. And as the name suggests, this beach has good waves for surfing most of the year.
The next stop, Camboinha, is a beach with a small strip of sand that is deserted almost all year round. She is ideal for those who want a beach to call their own. Finally, Itacarezinho is a long beach, about 3.5 km long. It takes another 30 minutes to walk there. So save your breath for this final stretch!
A postcard of Serra Grande, the viewpoint offers an unmissable view of Pé de Serra and Sargi beaches, in addition to the north coast of Ilhéus. And it's not just one gazebo, but two! The first one has just a stall selling coconuts. While the second has a bar with a view beyond the flight deck.
Both are easily accessible and are on the BA-001 right after Pé de Serra Beach.
While there are beaches in Itacaré full of surfers looking for a little space to surf good waves, Praia Pé de Serra has great waves and is very quiet, even in high season! So, if you enjoy surfing, here's the tip.
