Budget advice: you can find a rental or a homestay at a reasonable price by moving away a little, but check the presence of a bus or train stop nearby

When you visit the mer de glace you can clearly see from old pictures the difference in time on height of the Ice... it is so impressive and dramatic...

You can also make a great hike all along the arves river to visit all the great places around Chamonix, we decided to climb and reach the bottom of the "Glacier des Bossoms"... A great 4h walk from chamonix accesible with kids, with amazing panorama!
