This amazing city was founded in the 13th century, it housed a good part of the Germanic nobility for centuries due to its location in the Sudetenland, very close to Germany and Austria. As a result, its landscape is an aggregation of century-old castles, palaces, towers and other constructions that, by some miracle, have survived all the wars, conflicts and natural disasters of the last 800 years.
Cesky Krumlov is not just beautiful. Not just pleasant. Not just spectacular. More than all that, she is unique. It feels like you are in a painting, not reality.

To crown the plastic beauty of the scenery, Cesky Krumlov occupies a valley with dramatic cliffs, on which all the houses rest, skirting the Vltava or Moldava River, the same one that cuts through the capital Prague, 170 km to the north.
Cesky Krumlov Castle. As is customary in the Czech Republic, the word “castle” or hrad does not refer to a single building, but to a complex of buildings. In this case, there is the fortress itself, surrounded by 12 other buildings, which range from a stable to a theater – in fact, one of the best preserved Baroque style buildings on the entire planet.
The origins of Cesky Krumlov Castle go back to 1240, when the Rosenberg family (you'll hear a lot about them when you visit this country) ruled Bohemia, celebrating its opulence with palaces and cultural institutions unusual for the time.
In the castle tower is the Hradní Muzeum, a museum that deserves a visit. There, you can find hundreds of artifacts that reveal what life was like for local nobles in past centuries. There are from 15th century bathrooms to armor from the 1700s. And, even, a saint's skeleton! Yes, the bones of Saint Reparatus, one of the region's evangelizers.

If you like beer, you are in the right place!
Here's a list of options to have a nice beer:
Eggenberg
A traditional krumlovian brewery, created in 1560. Of course, a lot has changed since then and the current buildings are newer, like, like, 200 years old.
Eggenberg currently produces seven varieties of beer: two light drafts, two light lagers, one dark lager, one low-sugar and one non-alcoholic.
all accompanied by a glass of precious Pivní pálenka Eggenberg – a liqueur made from the local beer. To produce each liter of it, 10 liters of beer are needed. And the end result is a strong (42%) but aromatic distillate that enhances the freshness of local beers when taken alongside them, particularly the unfiltered or pasteurized versions.
At the restaurant, you can also try typical Bohemian cold cuts, sausages and meats, made especially with pork.
For those who want to go beyond the restaurant, there are guided tours of the brewery complex. The most basic one costs 50 CZK.
There are other options that include tastings and in-store discounts, the most complete of which costs 150 CZK and comprises two glasses of beer and a 4-bottle takeaway kit – a real bargain!
Na louzi
A friendly pub, stronghold of Bohemian intellectuals for decades, decorated with hundreds of old advertisements for beer (and other products). It's where you mingle with locals, in search of a pleasant afternoon.
