If you want to Disconnect from the world, the Point Lobos State Natural Reserve is your type of trip.

Don't miss the opportunity to visit this beautiful place, don't know how to go? Don't worry, go to bitbook.net and easily book all you'll need to get there and have a great time

Considered “The Jewel in the Crown” of California's 280 state parks, Point Lobos State Natural Reserve is a breathtaking ecological reserve. Located on the state's Central Coast in Monterey County, the reserve is three miles south of Carmel on California 1 (highway) and is one of the most enchanting attractions in the entire region.

For you to have an idea of the preciousness of this place, Point Lobos has the highest level of environmental protection from the government among all reserves in the State of California. The tour is ideal for those who love hiking, picnics, scuba diving, and also for those who just want to contemplate and admire nature and the imposing Pacific.

In the Reserve there are communities of very rare plants, archaeological sites threatened with extinction, unique geological formations, an immensely rich fauna and flora, both on land and at sea.

Marine mammals are among one of the great attractions. Sea otters, fur seals and sea lions make this park their home. We run a serious risk, delicious I would say, of being on a trail and suddenly seeing whales and dolphins in the sea passing through the region in search of food.

one of the traditional trails in Point Lobos is the Cypress Grove Trail, it is very short with about 1.3 km, but the beauty is so noble that it makes you feel in an enchanted forest. I still remember the feeling I felt when I first saw it, the tall trees that closed the view of the sky, only rays of light entering, the rust vegetation that surrounds some trees, lower vegetation of different colors, flowers along the way, and as a gift, well from the my little side, between the trees, a breathtaking view of the ocean with different shades of blue.

A tip is to bring binoculars. On the way to the trail, nature is greatly transformed and there is the possibility of watching a “dancing theater” of cute little animals in the sea and among the trees. For those who like surprises, it is possible to be on this trail and come across deer along the way. They are so cute and reminds me of being in the Bambi movie hehehe. Who never watched.

After this trail, head to the opposite side of the Cypress Grove Trail. Adjacent to the parking lot you will find the Lion Point Trail and Sand Hill Trail, two trails with about 0.8 km to go. They are stuck together and you can't tell where one starts and ends.

The landscapes are still breathtaking, but the vegetation is sooooo different from the first Cypress Grove Trail. There are some cliffs in this stretch that are majestic, in addition to having a privileged view of the sea and being able to feel all the wind from the Pacific. Take a jacket even if it's summer! All these trails are very well signposted by signs and protected by fences indicating how far you can go.

Point Lobos also receives many painters and photographers wanting to record nature's spectacles. The reserve is also loved by divers, there is an area called the Offshore that is considered one of the richest underwater habitats in California. Imagine there is a kelp forest that is 70 feet deep. A parallel world of colors and animals.

But don't think it's just getting there and wanting to dive in. There are many rules. The practice is allowed only for certified divers and in addition to passing certification tests. If you meet these criteria, it is important to book the experience well in advance and prove all requirements.

If you're not a diver, there's the opportunity to snorkel (with rules too). Now if you don't want to go into the sea, the nature of Point Lobos always brings surprises. Depending on the tide, if low, it is possible to find natural pools full of marine life. The best place to look is West Beach, which is located between the parking lots at Sea Lion Point and Bird Island along the South Shore Road and Trail. An important and sustainable tip is whenever you find animals, shells or stones, you should leave them in the same place you found them.
