Many, many years passed and in 1896 the romantic comedy, White Horse Inn, written by Oskar Blumenthal and Gustav Kadelburg, telling the inspiring story of the waiter who fell madly in love with the hotel's owner, made the hotel known. But it was in 1930, when the comedy operetta was launched in Berlin, that international fame exploded, transforming the White Horse Inn into one of the most iconic hotels in the world.

In 1912 the Peter family bought the hotel, which at the time consisted of three old houses on the banks of the Wolfgangsee side. Now in its fifth family administration, the hotel has become a charming and large establishment, in a set of nine connected houses (some even date back to the 16th century), full of history, art and a lot of culture. In 2008, the hotel underwent a major transformation process, investing in gastronomy, expansion of the SPA, modernization of accommodation and various social areas.

The fastest and most comfortable way to reach the White Horse Inn is by car. In addition to highways being a carpet for driving, signage is very effective and helps a lot in locating. By car from Salzburg, for example, it will take you a maximum of fifty minutes to reach the center of St. Wolfgang, and from Vienna, about three hours.
