Ocala

Ocala is a city located approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes from Orlando, known for its outdoor activities and nature preservation. One of Ocala's main attractions is Silver Springs State Park, a state park with more than 350 hectares of green space, pristine lagoons and several hiking trails. In the park, you can go kayaking, observe wildlife and practice water sports. Be sure to take the famous glass-bottomed boat ride, which is one of Florida's oldest attractions and is a stunning ride. Entrance to the park + ride on the glass boat costs $13.

If you want to swim or kayak surrounded by wilderness, Rainbow Springs is the place. Paddle to the source of the Rainbow River, which has water at a temperature of 22ºC all year round. An incredible tour. State park admission costs $7 per person and kayak rentals start at $10 an hour. It has options for single and double kayaks.

For those who enjoy adventure, the zip line circuit over the canyons of Ocala cannot be missed. Pure adrenaline activity and breathtaking views. Values from $56 per person.

For horse lovers, Ocala is known as the horse capital of the world and has several stud farms and farms that offer tours and experiences with these animals. And it is also where the largest equestrian center in the United States is located, the World Equestrian Center, where numerous competitions and events take place throughout the year. It's worth a visit even if you don't understand horses because the place is beautiful.

Finally, the city of Ocala also has a charming historic center full of shops, art galleries and restaurants. It's a great place to spend a few hours exploring the streets and discovering local curiosities. I recommend two restaurants in this area: Harry’s Seafood Bar & Grille, an a la carte restaurant specializing in seafood, and Stella’s Modern Pantry, a European-inspired fast food restaurant.

Lake Wales is a small town located about 1 hour and 15 minutes from Orlando, which sits on the shores of Lake Wailes, a freshwater lake surrounded by rolling hills and lush forests. It is a quiet and picturesque city, perfect for those who want to escape the hustle and bustle of big cities.

The city is known for its natural beauty and for being home to the famous Bok Tower Gardens, the city's main tourist attraction. It is a breathtaking botanical garden around a 60-metre high carillon tower in Gothic style that is impressive. The garden features over 50 acres of lush landscaping, filled with flowers, exotic plants and water features. It is a quiet and peaceful place, ideal for walking, relaxing and even having a picnic. Entry to the gardens is $17 for adults and $5 for children.

For nature lovers, the city offers many trails and campgrounds, such as Lake Kissimmee State Park and Allen David Broussard Catfish Creek Preserve State Park. Both parks offer incredible views of Florida's pristine wilderness, as well as opportunities for wildlife viewing and fishing.

Lake Wales also has many restaurants and shops located in the super charming historic center, which is worth a visit.

Clearwater is a coastal town located approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes from Orlando, known for its white sandy beaches and emerald green water. Clearwater Beach is one of the most popular in the area, with many activities such as jet skiing, parasailing, boating and fishing. On this same beach, visit Pier 60, a seaside promenade with many activities, such as fishing, live music, a playground and an open-air cinema.

Crystal River is a town located about 1 hour and 30 minutes from Orlando, known for its natural beauty and wildlife viewing opportunities.
